How do I lower memory consumption by the ESXi host?

All I want is to perform initial configuration of host and vm's then I won't need the web interface (ssh only)

How do I shut down all features and services that I don't need, hoping to free some host memory?

Default of 1.7GB for esxi 6.5 with no vm running seems HUGE for me. I only have 4GB of physical ram.

Hello,

there are only a few services running by default on an ESXi host. You can stop and configure them to not start at system boot, e.g. in the legacy C# client under Configuration/Software/Security Profile/Services/Properties ...

I could stop all of the Running services except Syslog, but I doubt that you will be able to save a lot of RAM by that:

4 GB RAM is just not enough to make good use of ESXi ...
