How do I install the web client

My Dell server came preloaded with ESXi 5.5.

To perform some functions I need to install the web client. How do I do this? I can't find anything that tells me.

VMware vCenter Server provides a centralized platform for managing your VMware vSphere environments. Automate and deliver a virtual infrastructure with confidence.

VMware vCenter Server Virtualization & Server Management Software | United States

Since you have the vCenter Server 5 Essentials, you have two options

1 - download the vCenter Server installation media and install on a VM with Microsoft Windows OS;

2 - download the vCenter Server Appliance and deploy in the ESXi host.

Hello,

to manage your host directly you need vSphere client, you can use vSphere Web client only for connection to vCenter server through which you can manage your VI including your hosts...

See: Install the vSphereClient:

vSphere 5.5 Documentation Center

For Web client see:

vSphere 5.5 Documentation Center

What is the difference between vCenter server and vSphere?

My license is for vCenter Server 5 Essentials.

Is there a component I need to download?

download the vCenter Server Appliance and deploy in the ESXi host.

I'm currently downloading the iso VMware vCenter Server 5.5 Update 1c Appliance

Any hints on the "and deploy" part? I already have a few VMs running on my server. Is this going to interrupt that?

Are there any tutorials on the deployment?

Thanks to you both. I have the vCenter Server Appliance deployed and have configured an IP address for it.

I need to know how to access it... or if there's more configuration to do.

next login to your appliance via web browser:

https:// <VMwarevCenter Server Appliance IP address>:5480

you will need to configure additional parameters... as reference try this blog post below:

http://everythingshouldbevirtual.com/deploying-vmware-vcenter-server-appliance-5-1

or take a look at official documentation here:

Configuring the VMware vCenter Server Appliance (page 47)
