I'm preparing to run a clone of a Windows virtual machine running MySQL, and I'm wondering if I can hot clone the source machine with the database services running. Or is the recommendation to halt the database services prior to the clone?

My recommendation is to stop the database services prior start the clone process since I'm not sure if VSS will work for MySQL like works fro MS SQL.
