Hot add RAM does not showing the new value

Hi,

I have ESX 4.1 Build 260247 server in my environment. Recently i tried Hot Add RAM with one of my RHEl 5 64 bit VM. I successfully increased from 1 GB to 2 GB but inside guest os console its not showing as 2 GB still the old value 1 GB.

Kernel version of my Guest os is  "2.6.18-164.el5" Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5.4. But when i reboot the guest os it is recognizing the newly added 1 GB of RAM.

In the compatibility list i seen Hot Add RAM s supported for RHEL 5 64 bit with Kernel version 2.6.14 and above.

Please help me out in this.

You need to load a module and run some commands to see the new RAM:

Thanks for your reply. Today i added additional 1 GB of ram and tested according to KB but it doesnt work. It mean it wont work for RHEL 5.4 guest os.

Moreover acpi_memhotplug module is loaded
