Hi,

Everytime i try to start snmp service so that i can monitor the ESXi 5.5 , it throws the following expression.

HostServiceSystem.Start" for object "serviceSystem-81" on vCenter Server "SVR1" failed.

I dont get it, tried different workarounds but cannot get through this. Can anyone please help. i need to start the Snmp service and enable the service so that it can be monitored from our monitoring device.

Hi John ,

Thanks for the reply, the thing is that i upgraded my Vmware infrastructure from 5.0 to 5.5 . I Cannot login to the host directly as i have placed in HA cluster as also, the password has been misplaced by my seniors. So i need clarification on a few things

1) Is it that i am getting the error i am getting due to upgradation

2) Is there a workaround for this with the condition i am in

3) On upgradation does the root password get changed

4) Is there a way from which i can recover the root Password.

Please do help , I am in a fix and hit a dead end. I would be extremely thankful for all your assistance.
