Host stops sending video signal to display through video card after a while

ESXi6 host equipped with a PCIe NVIDIA video card. Drivers are not installed on ESXi host, the graphics card is not used for passthrough. When host starts, video signal is sent to a monitor. But if I shut monitor off or change input, wait a while and then turn it on, the monitor doesn't receive any signal. And there is no way to get a picture back but to reboot the host. It's like the card is put to sleep if no display is detected without a possibility to wake it up if the connection is established. If I don't power the display off or change input and leave it on, then everything is O.K., ESXi sees the connected display and keeps sending the signal. I've experimented with BIOS, shut monitor off and left, and I was able to see picture after a while. So, a cause is ESXi and not BIOS meddling in a process. How to fix this "sleeping mode" for the card?

Change ESXi power setting to High Performance and also change monitor power saving to never via monitor menu.

I already have High Performance setting. How does "change monitor power saving to never via monitor menu" help? I don't want to keep the monitor on on the same input 24/7 for 2 years. If I change input and work on a different computer or power off the monitor because I don't want it working and emitting energy, this is when host disables video signal or even a whole video card.
