Host profiles question and removal of source host server

I would like to know if I generate a host profile from a specific host server, can i remove that host server from the cluster and never bring it back again and still be able to use the create host profile to provision new host servers?  I just wasnt sure if the host profile that was created still required the source server or if that information was stored in vcenter itself.

thanks,

Yes, you can - the host profile is like a template config that you now can test against other servers etc.

Depending how you canpture it, you can even choose where to store it.

Have a look at :

Online version: http://www.vmware.com/support/developer/PowerCLI/PowerCLI41U1/html/Get-VMHostProfile.html
Apply-VMHostProfile
Export-VMHostProfile
Import-VMHostProfile
New-VMHostProfile
Remove-VMHostProfile
Set-VMHostProfile
Test-VMHostProfileCompliance

One day I will virtualise myself . . .
