Hi,
I am running a cluster with ESXi 4.0 hosts. One of them has disconnected from VC. I can ping the host but the host fails it's Management network tests (in other words, it can't ping out), nothing has changed on this host and I cannot re-connect to VC.
.
I have restarted Mgt network and agents but no joy. I don't want to reboot because it is still running live VMs
Any ideas would be much appreciated!
thanks in advance.
Check the gateway...is it correct..? Because management network test ping gateway and nameserver.
Thanks you for taking the time to respond. I have indeed checked all IP settings and they are just fine. We haven't touched the host for quite a while.
Are you sure there were no changes made on the network side? (switch ports/vlans/trunks)
Maish
Hi - I'm sure nothing has changed. I can still ping the host and no other hosts are affected (these are in the same blade enclosure). It's as if the default gateway is incorrect.
I tried https://hostname/host to get to the logs and that fails too.
what esxcfg-route shows??
I've had a similar issue before where the host disconnects and the guest servers become somewhat, although not totally, slow network-wide. It ended up being a missing update/patch for the host.
I have similar problem, after reboot of ESXi host its backup online but unable to PING the host and the Management Network test fails.
Restarted host
Restarted Management Network
Disabled and Enabled the Management Network
Using vDS checked both Management Uplink ports are active
Any Suggestions?
