Host Shows Not Responding

Hi All,

Came in this morning and found one of my hosts shows not responding and all the VM's say disconnected.  I am able to ping it,

I am able to telnet to it, I am UNable to connect directly to the host through the client or the web client. Tried to go to teh host console and after i hit F2 on the host, it stopped responig as well.  All VM's are still running but i need to know if there are any other ways to get this freed up.  Any help is appreciated.  Thanks

Perry

Do you know if SSH is enabled and can you SSH to it with the local credentials of root / your local password ?

If you can SSH, you can try restarting the management agents..

Below will have the correct command for whichever version you are running. incase this doesnt work, what version are you running?

VMware KB: Restarting the Management agents on an ESXi or ESX host

We are running out of options unfortunately... If you cant SSH in, vSphere client in, or Direct console access in... You will most likely have to schedule downtime and shutdown each VM and restart the host. I know this may seem very unlikely or hard to do but its the best course of action at this point.. Unless anyone else from the community has any ideas.

That is what i thought and that is why i didn't open a support case with VMware yet.  We are a hospital so finding the downtime is the hard part.

How did it go? Did you have to restart the host? Probably the only option at this point Smiley Sad.

Yes, that was the only option.  I had a few VM's that were stuck also and i had to hard boot them but over all i just had to shutdown all the VM's and reset the host.  Thanks again for all the replies.  Much appreciated !!!
