Host Isolation Response - shut down

Could someone explain if Host isolation reponse set to Shut down in HA why would VMs be powered off?

The process winlogon.exe has initiated the power off of computer "vmname" on behalf of user NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM for the following reason: Legacy API shutdown
Reason Code: 0x80070000
Shutdown Type: power off

Can VMs be gracefully shutdown with HA?

Hi

Yes, in general when host isolation event occurs HA will try to shutdown (not power off) VM's (condition  is VMware tools has to run on VM), but after certain period of time if VM still is UP HA will POWER it OFF. Read whole article mentioned by john23, it's very well explain how it works

Cheers
