Hi Friend,

Without vMotion network, VMware HA just works fine. When host fails, both host and Vms are going to face outages/downtime. In case of vMOtion there is no any downtime.

vMotion is used by DRS to balance the mem/cpu load. vMotion is not a requirement for Vmware HA. Your VMs are going to be re-started on other host even when you do not have vMotion.

Below are the VMware HA requirements

-Min 2 hosts

-Min 3 GB memory for ESXi install and enable HA

-Vmware vCenter Server

-Shared storage for VMs

-Pingable gateway ot other reliable address.

Optional requirements:Note: Its not requirement but recommended.

-Redundant Management network

-multiple shared storage.
