Hardware requirements for a New VM Server

Hi All,

I want to figure out the hardware requirements for our new VM server. I shall use the free edition of vSphere (current version is vSphere 5.5) as the hypervisor software. The VM server should have enough capacity to run 5 VMs simultaneously, it should be able to manage 20 or more VMs.

The minimum spec for one VM is:

  RAM :  2GB

HD    :  80GB

OS    : Windows 7

A typical VM spec is:

  RAM :  4GB

HD    :  100GB

OS    : Windows 7

It will be a great help if someone can provide the hardware requirements or any specification. It will be of great help to me as I am pretty new to this stuff.

I would really appreciate if someone turns up with a requirement specification that matches my needs.

Thanks in Advance.

Hoping not much work load on Windows 7,

16GB memory or above, 2 cpu with dual core with required hard disk size should suffice your requirement. I would suggest to look at the future expansion plan as well, before ordering the hardware.
