HP updates and Esxi 4.0.0.0

Hello,

On the 'drivers and software' site from HP, they have an separate chapter when you are working with an Esxi OS.

They provide an update for the BIOS, the network driver and the firmware for the storage controler.

e.g. http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=be&prodNameId=3288134&...

Is this the same as when I scan for patches with the Host update utility?

If not, how do I run the SPXXXX.exe-file

to run it directly on the host is not possible.

The same is for the iso files, just boot with the cd?

thx

Greetings

No, these updates will not be provided through the host update utility and patches from VMware.  The hardware vendor will always provide these updates.  With that said, I typically use the firmware CD.  Although not always 100% current is usually is pretty up to date.  As for the BIOS update the package you download can be extracted onto a Windows client, then you will have to option to create a bootable ISO.  From there you can create a CD, or use iLO to mount the ISO and flash the BIOS.
