HP Proliant Gen8 DL380e not load the B320i controller with VMWare ESXi 5.0 U3

Hello community.

I'm trying to install VMWare ESXi 5.0 U3 on a HP Proliant DL380e Gen8 server that has a B320i controller, I'm using the medium custom installation of HP, but still when I select the target device does not show anything, I tried to raid 1+0 and raid 5, but I get no result.

This is the ISO that I download.

try adding ISO customize the controller driver, but the ISO tells me that that driver already exists.

In the bios I have enabled the next option.

Could you try the HP customized VMWare 5.5 ISO instead? Or do you need 5.0 for some reason?

I'm running a DL380e Gen8 with 5.5 Update 1 without issues. 5.5 Update 2 has some issues regarding the new version of hpvsa driver which gives massive performance drops in VMs.

Do you have a BBU (backup battery) installed?

It's also adviseable to run latest SPP (Proliant service pack) to get latest firmware and BIOS prior to any installation.

Did you also enable the B320i in BIOS/RBSU settings (System Options -> HP Smart Array B320i RAID Configuration to "Enabled")?

1. Create the RAID 1 + 0.
2. Insert CD.
3. Restart.
4. Booting from CD.
5. Select device installation  (no devices availaible)

I am installing version 5.0 because that is the product you have licensed,

yo podria instalar la version 5.5 y licenciar con la 5.0?

which is a BBU? ...redundant power supply or UPS, I do not know BBU.

I will update bios, and then tell them,

Yes, you can use the 5.0 license with 5.5 or any other 5.x version.

A BBU is a Battery Backup Unit connected to the controller and supporting the controller's write cache. This gives you a massive plus in performance. In other words: without a BBU VMWare will do no caching and therefor datastore access will be very slow.

hello, again thank you very much for responding.

try installing with 5.5 u1 and it worked.

Now the issue is that the local disk appears as remote., but installed without problems
