HP Ethernet 10Gb 2-port 572SFP+ Adapter not recognized

Hello everyone

Into an HPE DL380 Gen10 I installed ESXi 8.0 HPE Customized image; in this host I have one HP Ethernet 10Gb 2-port 572SFP+ Adapter (Product Number 789001-001 - Spares 811794-001), but ESXi GUI doesn't recognized it. Checkin by SSH using lspci command on this host I can see this NIC , but nothing more

What can I do to resolve this issues?

Thank you very much to all

Maurizio

Have you checked the vSphere compatibility matrix as I am not able to fine it in compatibility matrix. Please check it.

https://www.vmware.com/resources/compatibility/search.php?deviceCategory=io

Also check if HP has provided additional driver for the same.

Thank you @Sachchidanand

I tried to check into VmWare compatibility matrix, but I didn't found it... I found the 562SFP+ and others, but not this one.

I've just written a post on HPE community website.... hope someone can help me.

Thank you very much

Hello @maksym007

I don't know how to find/update firmware/driver: ESXi GUI doesn't recognize it...

May I do it by SSH?

This is what LsPci command shows me:

[root@DL380:~] lspci -v | grep -A1 -i ethernet

[root@DL380:~]

The last two are the NICs not recognized by ESXi Web UI (NetXtreme BCM5719 and Intel(R) X540-AT2 are perfectly recognized)

When I launch  "esxcli network nic list"  I got:

[root@DL380:~] esxcli network nic list

[root@DL380:~]

The last two are not recognized

PS: in this adapter I have installed two Transceiver HP 10Gb SR SFP+   (P/N: 455885 - SPS: 456096-001)

Thank you very much in advance always

That's indeed unusual.
Do the vmnics show up in the DCUI?
Is it the same if you use another browser, or after deleting the browser cache?

Hello @a_p_

Yes Andrè, I agree with you: it's strange

Anyway: I checked it into DCUI and this adapter is not shown ...

Few hours ago HPE support wrote me and they told me that this card is not compatible with DL380 Gen10...

It's anyway strange because iLO recognize it perfectly ...

hello @maksym007

Thank you for your answer; I already used this command (see my previous post) and the card is not present, but I can se it on the iLO...

I  don't know; maybe this card is not fully working with DL380 Gen10... and ESXi can not recognize it..

This is might be the issue. Have you tried to install network card in different PCI slots to exclude problems with Mainboard?

Hello, FB_Mno

A dispassionate opinion that may be worth little or nothing, but you are sure that for the specific chipset around which that network card is built, the manufacturer has made available a driver compatible with the most recent versions of the ESXi product. I assume HPE can give you a precise answer to this.

Ferdinando

Hello @maksym007

Yes, I did, but I've got the same problem...

some days ago HPE replayed me with:

......   HP Ethernet 10Gb 2-port 572SFP+ Adapter is not listed supporting network adapter for DL380 Gen10....

Guess I have to change NIC card model...

Thank you for your answer

Hello @Kinnison

Thank you for your replay

I take a look around, about SolarFlare Communications chip 572, and seems that they didn't develop a driver for the new ESXi releases...

I'll call our distributor to change this NICs

Thank you very much

Maurizio

So always, common problem with compatibility.
