HA Cluster

Dear Guy,

I have two questions would like you all help to answer.

1. I have two hosts, they are in same CPU version and spec, but they are with difference memory amount. Host A comes with RAM 20GB and Host B comes with RAM 50GB.

Can I put the two hosts in Cluster? if can, how much total memory resource will I have in pool? i will have 40GB total memory, or 70GB in cluster pool.

2. Similar question. I have two hosts, they are in same CPU version but with difference core per socket. Host A comes with 8 core per socket, Host B comes with 12 core per socket.

Can I put them in cluster? if can, how much core CPU will i have in resource pool?

Thank you guy in advanced.

Admission control will reserve some resource for failover as you set Admission control policy.

You can configure Cluster with different size of RAM and CPU for Host. You will get all resource available on each host.

However this will imbalance the HA slot size.

if Host with high RAM or CPU size goes down, you will notice performance issue as another host will not have enough resources to run all restarted VMs.

So you will have to be very careful while deploying number of VMs in that Cluster.
