HA Cluster - Host Failure & File Locking

Hello,

In a HA cluster, if a host fails (loses power or something similar) how are the file locks on a VM that was running that particular host released so that another host in the HA cluster can start it up? I know if a host declares itself as isolated, it releases the file locks but what happens if it fails?

Thanks,

Steve

Thanks, Steve

Lock in a shared storage have a timeout of i believe 15 seconds. Live host is refreshing the lock so other hosts can not claim locked object. When the host fails the lock expires and can be claimed by another host in a cluster.
