Guided Consolidation

According to the bumph, guided consolidation is now a module within vCentre Server.

Does it only appear in certain versions? We have vCentre Server Standard and I cannot find guided consolidation.

Cheers

Hello.

Guided Consolidation is no longer available in vSphere 5.

Good Luck!

The feature page ( http://www.vmware.com/products/vcenter-server/features.html ) says :

Proactive Management of VMware vSphere

...

...

Guided Consolidation, now a module within vCenter Server, walks you step by step through the consolidation process, including automatic discovery of up to 500 servers, performance analysis, conversion and intelligent placement on the right host.

Is that simply wrong ?

Is there and alternative product, or must we use the standalone coverter ?

Cheers

Chris

I believe that is simply wrong. :smileyconfused:

The relase notes for vSphere 4.1 announced that "vSphere 4.1 and its subsequent update and patch releases are the last major releases for VMware Guided Consolidation." - http://www.vmware.com/support/vsphere4/doc/vsp_esx41_vc41_rel_notes.html

VMware vCenter Converter plug-in is also listed in these release notes with a similar statement. The standalone Converter product is the product to use now.
