Hello all,
I am using vSphere Client, and I am trying to use the console tab or the button but it doesn't seem to be working at all.
Anyone had the same problem before ?
Thanks in advance
Did you get any error message?
---
MCSA, MCTS Hyper-V, VCP 3/4, VMware vExpert
No , nothing at all , it just takes some time, then come back with no console to show
After a while , I get "System.Windows.Forms.AxHost+InvalidActiveXstateException"
There is a nasty little KB that just came out about similar issues....
I hope it helps..... Basically re-install the Update 1 client.
Chris
I tried to install the latest build of the client, but it doesn't help. I am checking the .Net FrameWork currently.
Does it open up a blank console windows ? BLACK no VM console ? Please send us the screenshot.
If its comes with black VM console window then follow the KB article : http://kb.vmware.com/kb/749640

Have you checked your firewall port between you and the vCenter server?

Hello all,
Thanks for all the people who tried to help me.
About the firewall port, It's ok, because I tried the same client on another machine and it's working.
What happens exactly is as follows :
1- Vmware client starts to initialize normally, I log to the server.
2- I try to use any available option to open the VM console, but with no joy
3- I wait for alot of time, then sometimes it opens a console after a very long time but with a black screen, and sometimes it doesn't open anything ( seems like there is no any reaction )
Thanks again for all the shares
And now I get an error "Object refernce not set to an instance of an object"
I know this thread is over 2 years old, but I came across it as I was experiencing a similar problem. I had 3 Windows guests on one host with two consoles working and one was not. No error messages other than the Active X one (which is the search term that brought up this post for me).
None of the kb articles accurately described my issue, and after messing around for a while, I did resolve it.
Using ESX 4.1. No updates.
I clicked to edit the settings of the VM which I could not load the console. I saw there was a USB device attached that said "inconsistent" and I was unable to remove it. Not remembering having ever connected a USB device to this host, I walked over to it and yanked out the USB cable, realizing that it was my APC UPS and imediatly remembering plugging it in.
Walked back to my desk, clicked edit settings on the VM, and viola, the USB device now accurately reflected APC SmartUPS. Closed settings and console worked fine.
Strange issue, maybe is known and fixed in an update or whatever, but I wanted to share my experience to hopefully help someone who also stumbles upon this thread while searching.
