Guest Heartbeats and Maintence Mode

Hey All,

I am unable to enter Maintence mode on a host.  I can manually move VM's to and from the host, I have 2 hosts in the cluster.  However if I try to enter maintience mode it just sits there at 2%.  When there are no powered on VM's there is no issue to go to maintence mode.

Also when I move the VM's manually I get a heartbeat issue, although I can still continue.  How do get rid of the heartbeat issue?


ESX 4.0 and I also have a rule that doesnt allow 2 DC's to be on the same host.  Could this be the problem with only 2 hosts in the cluster?

Yes,  this could very well be the issue.  You may have to break that rule for  now.  Also, the heartbeat error could be because the VMware Tools are  not running or not installed
