Ghost VMs in a datastore

Hello;

I need to delete a datastore on my ESXi 5.5 HA/DRS cluster because of some storage matters.

Vcenter shows 3 VMs run in the datastore but this is not a correct information. Also Vcenter shows that used space 0 B for each VM. So vcenter doesn't let me unmount the datastore. When I look at the settings of each VM, these VMs run in a different datastore.

When I try svmotion, it says completed successfully but VMs are still stuck to the datastore.

I may turn off all 3 VMs, unmount/delete datastore and then turn on these VMs but I find it so risky. Because these VMs are mission critical and hundreds of GB.

How can I delete the datastore securely?

Thanks&Regards

First, check if any of these VM have any ISO mounted from this datastore... and even if there is no ISO mounted, check if there is any snapshot on VMs and delete them, cause maybe the ISO was mounted when snapshot was taken.
