Fresh 4.0 ESXi Install Problems

DL360 G6 out of the box. Burned 4.0 Update 1 ISO to cd. Installed just fine and after reboot I keep getting:

Attempted to Boot from CD-ROM

Attempting to Boot From Hard Drive (C:)

SYS Linux 3.63 0x48efda77 EBIOS Copyright (C) 1994-2008 H. Peter Anvin

Boot: _

That's all I get on the prompt.

Thanks

Do you have a SAN? In this case maybe you have installed the hypervison on the SAN disks.

Try also the HP version for ESXi that will provide the right drivers:

No SAN, just installing on an array control in the DL360. Pretty simple set up. Looking for HP download nw.

There were some issues with the embedded P410i and other controller.

The issue has been resolved in firmware version 2.50 of the storage controller.

see http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1014611 for details.

I'm not sure which direction to go at this point. Just found this on Experts-Exchange. Anyone ran in to this before? Basically I have the press ENTER after every reboot or it never loads in to the HYPERVISOR.

From Experts-Exchange:

I have only 2 drives in each DL385G6 running in RAID1 (mirrored). I think this may have to do something with no timeout set in the syslinux.cfg file. I'm going to try to boot from an Ubuntu Live CD to see if there's a syslinux.cfg on the RAID array to set these options in, if the drive is mountable using Ubuntu Live.

Ok, so I ran the Ubuntu Live CD and ran a sudo nautilus.

I browsed to the Hypervisor 0 partitions and saw the syslinux.cfg file.

I opened the file with Text Editor and saw 1 line: default safeboot.c32

I change the file to look like the code shown here and viola! The trick she is done, ESXi pauses at the boot: prompt for about 5 seconds and then continues on it's merry way.

Thanks for all the help!
