Opensource hypervisor to deal with license dependency. Also can get benefits of virtualization . Better if it can also accommodate some production load. Please suggest

Have you asked Google about this? You're asking on a VMware forum where none of their hypervisor products are open-sourced.

Sorry about that. I only wants to setup my lab environment for R&D so that I can test my project related dependencies. If you don't want me to use VMware forum to get such information about that. No problem I will halt here. I used this platform, not google because I feel experts can suggest me with right information as they have good amount of experience on such queries. Thank you for your point.

You give us too much credit.

Would you expect that a mechanic in a Mercedes garage has anything helpful when you ask "Where can I get a cheap car ?"

Here opensource Hypervisors are only a topic when someone needs to convert the VMs to VMware products.

Just look for Linux and KVM. For open-source solutions KVM typically is the way to go these days. In the past people also used Xen, but by most folks using open source that seems to have been replaced by KVM over the past couple of years.

I personally have no, or not much, experience with it as I work for VMware, but considering the amount of articles on the topic of KVM you shouldn't have problems configuring and using it. Pick a Linux distribution you are most comfortable with and go do your thing.

Thank you Duncan Epping. I am feeling very happy today. I always received your help through your articles, whenever I was looking for deep dive in VMware technology,  in your blog website "http://www.yellow-bricks.com" . This is the first time I received your direct help in VMTN portal, where other friends are criticizing me to use this forum for this query, but no problem. You are inspiration of many folks including me who are working in VMware technology, and want to explore hypervisor technology in back end.

Thank you once again for all very nice articles in your blog, and humbly request you to keep helping us as always.
