Free vs Paid ESXi

I was just looking at a chart that showed the differences between free esxi and the paid version.  I saw this line:

My server has 4 CPUs.  They all show up on ESXi's host screen, it shows there are 32 cores available (8 cores each).  Is this outdated information?  Or does my ESXi only show what it's reading from the hardware but will only actually use 2 of those CPUs?  It always appeared to me that it was using all 4 and I only had 32 cores to work with (How many Processors I assign to a vm up to 😎

Nevermind, I was reading outdated information, found this only moments of posting and making a fool of myself 🙂

The limit of max. 8vCPU for a VM is still intact when speaking of the "free" vSphere Hypervisor.  The limit of max 2 Sockets falls ages ago.

And speaking about the free one it means you have to insert the "free" license of course... other wise youre running the in Eval Mode which is EnterprisePlus... for 60 days.

Joerg
