Hi,

Do you get the mac address that caused the flapping?

From there you can check the vendor information and know whether it is a virtual machine or an ESXi host

www.coffer.com/mac_find

Do you have more information on this such as:

Network connectivity from host to physical switch

How many physical switches, active standby or multi-chassis link aggregation connected to the hosts

How many vmnic connected to the physical switches

For the connecting VLAN / vmnic to the flapping switch, how many vmnic/VLAN inside

Which load balancing policy are you using on that portgroup - virtual, mac, LBT, etc

Would be great if you can share more information on this.

A simple diagram would be helpful too.

Thanks,

Bayu

yes mac address causing this flap and i cant find that MAC address on any server/VM. but that MAC address is from VMWare.

i have not changed any vswitch settings recently.

settings on vswitch where i have my problem vLAN

2 nics are connect under with nic teaming

vswitch >> nic teaming >> policy exceptions settings

load balancing = route based on originating virtual port ID

network fail over detection = link status only

notiffy switches

failbadk yes

But on VLAN (port group ) in vswitch load balancing, netosk failover detection, notify switches are not settle but other hosts also having a same settings on port groups and on other hosts which are also connected to the same switch i did not see any problem..

this message i am getting on switch

-4-HOSTFLAPPING: Host <Mac address > in vlan <vlanid> is flapping between port ## and port ##

mac address is from vmware but i cant find it anywhere -

any comment please

Hello,

it sounds like a nic teaming issue between the esxi host and the physical switch.

Check this:

VMware KB: VMware ESX/ESXi host network flapping error when Beacon Probing is selected

I would recommend you to verify this vmware's kb, it maybe helps you to find some misconfiguration:

VMware KB: Sample configuration of EtherChannel / Link Aggregation Control Protocol (LACP) with ESXi...

Pablo

It comes out that my esx host is having interrupt remapping off. so once i enable the interrupt remapping. error is gone.
