Fault Tolerance issues

I have 2 esx-4 servers running vsphere. The storage arrays are set up using lefthand networks to create an iSCSI san. Whenever I setup the high availability and attempt to turn on fault tolerance on any of the servers I have created I get an error that the vm's current configuration does not support fault tolerance. When I run the site survey I get an X on my lefthand setup portion for "storage" and "pRDM". Has anyone encountered this or have any idea on how to correct this so I can turn fault tolerance on for this configuration. I'm at my wits end and can't find any solutions.

Thanks,

Robert

Hello and welcome to the forums.

If you are using RDMs in Physical Compatibility Mode, then that is an unsupported configuration. RDMs in Virtual Compatibility Mode are supported.

Good Luck!

Aha, but how do I change the lefthand iscsi from physical rdm to virtual rdm?

This is configured per virtual machine. Find the virtual machines that are using the RDMs, and change the compatibility mode there.

I'm starting to think that the way lefthand networks provisions the space, it makes that side of it not be able to use vRDM's.
