Failed to find boot partition on Dell R510/SAS6iR/SATA-Raid-1

Hello,

my VMware-ESXi 4.0 U1 has a timing problem on boot process.

Hardware: Dell Power Edge R510 with Raid-Controller SAS6/iR and SATA-Raid-1.

The Error-Message is Failed to find boot partition (Invalid Primary Boot Bank Detected: ...)

I have find a solution for this problem and i thing it's a bug that should be resolved.

Solution:

in /etc/vmware/init/bin/functions.sh at function SetupBootBanks()

insert after '# Rescan to discover volumes\n Exec vmkfstools -V' the line 'Exec sleep 5'

Thank You for problem resolving

Do you mean to say sleep for 5 sec is resolving the problem?

ESX storage driver is not able to find the VD and entering into the failed shell. are you sure that your VD is created properly?
