We have some HP DL380 G8s with Intel Merom E5-2600 series processors. The said CPUs are not in the compatibility list, however if I shut a vm down, enable fault tolerance, it works.

What are the caveats due to it not being in the HCL list, how reliable will this service be, are we just in a postition of it breaks, we can't get support on it?

The KB article you mentioned might not have been updated for a while. The server you mentioned is listed in the official HCL (http://www.vmware.com/go/hcl). see ProLiant DL380p Gen8

Thanks for that, I also did a site survey, it also picked up the CPU as being unsupported?

Anyway that is good news for us :smileyhappy:

If sitesurvey said it's unsupported, it may not work the way you expect, if it does at all.
