I have a box running ESXi 4.0. Run fine. I decide it is time to upgrade to 4.1. After the upgrade the system is extremely slow, like an hour and a half to boot rather than a minute or two.
I tried installing 4.1 clean and installing 4.0 and upgrading to 4.1. Same slowness both ways.
Did something change between 4.0 and 4.1 that would cause this?
My system:
Intel DG35EC motherboard
Intel Q6600 quad core processor
8 GB RAM
Thanks for any help.
Is that system on the HCL?
Problem with whitebox systems that "just happen to work" is that noone certifies that an upgraded driver won't work worse - that's probably what's happened.
The system is not on the HCL.
I was just hoping that someone has seen something like this before - "oh yeah, just set the XXX to YYY to solve this problem" or "upgrade the firmware on the ZZZ".
I understand things can break in new releases. Normally it works the other way. More stuff is supported and things work better.
Thanks!
