Hi @all,
i want to extend my datastore on my esxi 5.1.
When extending the datastore over the vSphere Client Console, i get the error message:
German: Aufruf von "HostDatastoreSystem.QueryVmfsDatastoreExtendOptions" für Objekt "ha-datastoresystem" auf ESXi "IP" ist fehlgeschlagen.
English: Calling "HostDatastoreSystem.QueryVmfsDatastoreExtendOptions" for object "ha-datastore system" on ESXi "IP" has failed
Anybody an idea, why i can't extend the datastore? The new Disk is correctly detected.
Best Regards,
Andreas Acker
Hi,
This seems to be a local datastore.? is this where the ESXi of the host is installed.?
Thanks,
Avinash
Hi,
did you try to do the same directly on one of the Host via the vsphere native client .? does that also produce the same error.
Hi,
what do you mean "with the vsphere native client"? Configuring over SSH?
No i didn't until now. Do you have any idea, where this messages comes from?
Regards
Hi,
I meant try using the vsphere client to connect directly the Host and not to the vCenter server. and then try to increase.
The messages usually comes when you try to add NFS, but i do not think this is an NFS and may vCenter server is causing the issue.?
Thanks,
Avinash
Hi,
ah okay.
I almost tried connecting directly to the host. I only get that message.
Even if i try to create new datastore?!

Hello,
Then it could be a presentation problem, just un-present the device and re-present to the Hosts and try increasing the space.
Thanks,
Avinash
Hi,
Thanks for your help.
How do i un-present the device?
Regards
Hi,
just found how to...
un-presented and represented. Error still exists.
Any ideas?
Regards
could you post the screenshot where you increase.? and the error message.?
Hi,
attached the screenshots. I want to increase in the "datastore1-properties". After clicking on increase, it sees the clean Storage, after that it loads some details and then the message appears.

Hi,
yes it's a local datastore, i think esxi is also installed on that datastore.
Regards
That seems to be the problem, Increasing the local data store is not a complex procedure but if you have ESXi installed and and you need to change the partition layout which is why it is failing.
