Expanded VM Disk space

Good morning. I added 10 gigs to a VM's disk but never expanded it on the actual VM using disk management because I realized I did not have to use it. I powered off the VM and edited the settings of the hard disk back down to the 80 gigs it had, applyed that and powered the VM back on but under edit settings it still shows 90 gig and the server still shows 10 gigs unallocated. Did I miss something?

Reducing the virtual disk's size this way is unfortunately not supported. I you want/need to reduce the size, one way is to use VMware Converter.

If the partitions have not yet been expanded you can cut the vmdk with dd.
That is much faster but also dangerous - if necessary I explain via skype.
