I am currently upgrading to 4.1 from 4.0 using esxupdate following these video instructions.
I encounter checksum errors and see that is normal and not considered harmful.
However, my upgrade just continues scrolling these errors along with more detail about options.
See attached picture. It just keeps cycling through the two pictures attached and never completes.
Any suggestions?
Almost sounds like your download file was corrupt? You may want to do a md5sum on the update file and compare it to what vmware says that should be ?
If worse comes to worse you should be able to boot up from the DVD and do a clean install of it. But again make sure the ISO you download's checksum matches to make sure its not corrupt.
Hi
Have you run the pre-upgrade package first? esxupdate update –bundle=pre-upgrade-from-ESX4.0-to-4.1.0-0.0.260247-release.zip

I did run the preupgrade package and it completed successfully.
Well, the scrolling of those errors never stopped...so I was able to take it out of maintenance mode and move off a couple of VMs before I rebooted it.
I ended up with a power outage and bounced my server while in the loop.
I booted up this morning and everything is working fine and says its upgraded to 4.1.0, 260247.
I guess it worked!
Thanks for the feedback.
