Error when editing VM Settings for a particular VM ?

When we attempt to edit VM setting for a VM on a standalone ESXi 4.1 host (It is also the only VM on it), we get the following error message from VI Client.

Call "EnvironmentBrowser.QueryConfigTarget" for object "envbrowser-114" on vCenter Server "vCenter Server Name" failed.

However, if we connect to the ESXi Host via client, we are able to edit the VM settings.

Is there any fellow have such experience ?

Thanks

Could you please let us know what you mean by However, if we connect to the ESXi Host via client, we are able to edit the VM settings. Which Client are you talking about?

In the meantime can you try to remove the VM from inventory and re-add and try editing the VM

Hi,

Removing from the Inventory and re-adding it, may resolve the issue.

If not, you need to check is there any mks error while connecting the VM through Vcenter and not by ESXi Server.

Hi,

mks error - Mouse keyboard screen error..

Check you VM has the correct IP address and dns name. Also verify the VM is accessible from the Console by managing through VCenter.

1) VM can be accessed from the Console by managing through VCenter

2) I have checked and confirmed that the IP address / DNS Settings / Default Gateway are OK for both VM and the ESXi 4.1 host.

Your advice is sought.

Sorry for not mentioning that we are using vCenter Server 5 while all hosts are ESX / ESXi 4.1 Update 2.

The VM is located in the local HD of that particular ESXi4 Host.

Thanks
