Edit VMX file on ESX standalone Host

Hi

i need to know is it possible to export the VMX file of a Virtual machine,change it with WordPad and import in again with over righting the existing VMX file??

I will recommend you use vi or nano VMware KB: Editing files on an ESX host using vi or nano

Yes, you can do this, although you can modify most entries either by editing the VM's settings, or in the VM's advanced options by adding or modifying additional .vmx entries. Anyway, if you are going to edit the .vmx file manually, don't forget to either reload the VM (see http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1026043) or remove and re-add it from/to the inventory after editing it.
