EVC mode westmere - different CPUs

I got a cluster that is on EVC mode westmere.

all the hosts have identical dual xenon cpus

Intel(R) Xeon (R) CPU E5-2680 v2 @2.80GHz.

Now I am getting some new blades which are newere generation with new chipsets

2.50 GHZ E5-2680 V3

Can this new host be admitted into the cluster at westmere evc?

Yes, but why you're using EVC Westmere level that is two generations old than your CPU that is a Ivy Bridge.

Take a look at this blog post for additional detail: Intel CPU EVC Matrix (VMware Enhanced vMotion Compatibility) | Virten.net

I used westmere because there was some old hosts in the same cluster as

this and I was migrating vms off the old hosts to these new ones. I rather

use merom but that will mean I have to shutdown all my vms to do that?

Is there problem with staying at westmere?
