EVC and vMotion

Hey All, I have two clusters with EVC enabled. One with "Penryn" mode and the other " Nahalem" mode. I can vMotion guests from the "Penryn" cluster hosts to the cluster running " Nahalem" hosts, but not the other way around. What am I missing?

Nehalem CPU features are a superset of Penryn CPU features.  A host in a Nehalem cluster can therefore accommodate a VM that expects Penryn features.  However, a host in a Penryn cluster cannot accommodate a VM that expects Nehalem features, because some of the expected features are missing from the physical CPU.

That's what I was afraid of.. so my only option is power off and migrate correct?

Correct.  Once a VM is powered on, it can only be moved to physical hosts with features that meet or exceed the capabilities of the original host.
