ESXi650-201912002 install on 6.5 U1 custom image

Hello

We have a customer running on old Fujitsu hardware that is under support until August 2020.  To maintain support they need to run on the Fujitsu custom image.  The latest available is ESXi 6.5 Update 1.

Are we OK to install the ESXi650-201912002 which looks to be a roll-up Patch Release of fixes to the custom image and keep the server within warranty?  Will this install on 6.5 update 1 OK?

Where did you look for the image. You can find v6.5U3 at https://my.vmware.com/web/vmware/details?downloadGroup=OEM-ESXI65U3-FUJITSU&productId=646​

Please verify that your hardware supports this version/build.

Thanks for the reply.  Looking at your link there doesn't appear to list any models other that BX?

The server is a Fujitsu Primergy  RX200 S8 - on https://support.ts.fujitsu.com/ if you search by model, the latest supported VMware ESXi version is 6.5 Update 1.

The link that I've posted contains images for supported servers, as well as a customized image for BX server.

Anyway, as you already found out, Fujitsu seems to have stopped support for your server model with version 6.5 Update 1, so you're basically stuck with that version.

The best that you can do is to contact Fujitsu, to find out what you can do in this situation.

Can ESXi650-201912002 be installed on 6.5 U1 though?

VMware ESXi 6.5, Patch Release ESXi650-201912002 lists the patches, but I cannot see what O/S level it depends on?

You can find the build numbers at e.g. https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/2143832​.

There you can see that v6.5 U1g (ESXi650-201803001) is the latest U1 update/patch before U2 went GA.

So the answer to your question is unfortunately, no it can't.
