hi,
in a drs esxi cluster if i stop esxi on a server and there are VM,what happen with VM?
Nothing, they would go offline with the host.
DRS doesn't ensure that VMs are available, that's what HA does.
If you have HA and it restarts the VMs on surviving hosts, HA would consider things such as DRS rules to determine VM placement, DRS itself would then kick in at the next cycle and look at resource availability and balancing across the cluster.
the information regarding what VMs are running is kept in vcenter?then when VM in an esx goes off it will be started on other esxi.please amend it.
Each host in a HA cluster runs an agent, they talk to one another and are told about things such as DRS rules.
You need to be clear on the distinction between the function of HA and the function of DRS though.
HA is in discussion.
Your initial question was about DRS, it was me who brought up HA.
HA triggers independently of vCenter Server - just as well seeing as the vCSA might well be one of the VMs which was running on the host which went offline.
every esxi is aware of the VMs running on the other esxi?in this case when esxi crash then VMs on it will start on other esxi.
