ESXi version - processor type compatibility - is there any comprehensive list??

Hello friends.

I have an Asus ESC4000FDR G2 server that is populated on one side, so far, with a Xeon E5 2690 v2.  Currently I am running ESXi 5.1;  I first tried to upgrade, then install, 6.0 and 5.5 but all attempts failed.

I want to know whether this server with this processor can in fact run ESXi 5.5 or 6.0?  Checking the Compatibility Guide did not help, as the entry for this server shows that it should be able to run those versions, but I can't find a specific listing of the processors required to run these versions.  The guide only says 'up to 12 cores' per processor.  Am I missing something?  Thanks for your help.

Hello an Welcome to the community,

VMware HCL says it supports your HW with Intel Xeon E5-2600-v2 Series which means  all the CPUs (26XX) in this serie including 2690v2...

Your server model  is supported with this CPU family and with Nvidia Quadro K4000 GPU...

Please post more details about upgrade failure what errors you get etc.

Before you start double check that you have the latest BIOS/Firmware installed on the server and for upgrade download the latest release of ESXi

which is 6.0 Update 1, here:
