ESXi to SD Card

Hi,

Im having a bit of a strange problem with Dell blades and ESXi5.

Looking on dells website they have an ISO for support of ESXi5 for the M610 blade but when i goto install i get the following message

Operation failed.

This program has encountered an error:

Error (see log for more info):

vmkfstools failed with message: Device path name

"/vmfs/devices/disks/mpx.vmhba32:C0:T0:L0:8" is not a valid absolute or relative path

Failed to resolve device name path

/vmfs/devices/disks/mpx.vmhba32:C0:T0:L0:8

Usage: vmkfstools - C[vmvfs3|vmfs5] /vmfs/devices/disks/vml... or;

vmkfstools - C[vmvfs3|vmfs5] /vmfs/devices/disks/naa... or;

vmkfstools - C[vmvfs3|vmfs5]

/vmfs/devices/disks/mpx.vmhbaA:T:L:P

Error: No such file or directory

I know this has been posted on the forum before but ive tried it from 4-5 different blades and they all come up with the same issue

Some things ive tried

Redownloaded ISO from both dell and vmware (failed)

formating SD card (failed)

installing esxi4.1 (works)

So from the above im not too sure i understand why v4.1 would work fine yet 5 doesnt?

Thanks

I've successfully installed Dell ESXi 5.0 to SD card on M710HD blades.Not sure in your case why 4.1 works and 5 doesn't. Are there any BIOS options on the M610 related to SD?

Have you tried the regular (i.e. non-Dell) ISO for ESXi 5?

Try with the standard ISO.

And note that maybe you are trying to write on the iDRAC flash that is not for this purpose. Have you buid the dedicated SD for the hypervisor?
