ESXi shutdown via USV

The ups shall shut down the ESXi like the VM`s.

The ups is connected via network with the ESXi.

UPS: Eaton 9px6000

ESXi: 6.5

ESXi hardware: IBM 3650 m5

You need to use Eaton IPM for this. You can configure it on vCenter, ESXI or vROPS. I am not sure if it is paid or not. Have a look on this.

Hi,

I am currently facing a customer requirement to achieve something similar. We cannot use a third-party product to achieve this so we'll script it ourselves.

Most of the modern USVs have the ability to trigger a script when they detect a power outage. If your USV can do that as well you can customise my script to suit your needs:

PowerCLI: Automating VM Shutdown triggered by USV – virtualfrog – daily virtual life

They way my script works is a little different. We have a metro-cluster environment at the customer's and they wanted a script that would shut down one site and let the other site take over. So instead of shutting down VMs we will migrate them to the remaining hosts. However changing the script to shut down your VMs should be easy, if you need help on this let me know and I can assist you.
