ESXi shell access ( ESXi console shell or ssh ) have to enter root password twice

Hello,

not sure if anyone has faced this issue before and I searched and cannot find anything.

I have few ESXi 6.0 u2 hosts ( lockdown mode disabled and ssh/shell enabled ) on which when trying to ssh login and enter password, it doesn't connect in first try and retrying same password works and let me login with root. Everytime I try ssh login, it happens.

Tried using plink utility and same result. Local console Shell access also same result and have to retry password twice before login. Only few ESXi hosts are showing this symptom.

Here is sample output:

login as: root

Using keyboard-interactive authentication.

Password:

Using keyboard-interactive authentication.

Password:

The time and date of this login have been sent to the system logs.

VMware offers supported, powerful system administration tools.  Please

see www.vmware.com/go/sysadmintools for details.

The ESXi Shell can be disabled by an administrative user. See the

vSphere Security documentation for more information.

Found the issue related to likewise bug and AD authentication in ESXi 6.0u2.

removed AD authentication on ESXi host and made it local authentication. and that fixed the issue.
