ESXi - mainboard replacement

Dear,

I'm running ESXi 4 on DL380 G6 and have issue with the smart controller.I was suggested for mainboard replacement. If doing so, is there any issue with installed ESXi? it will be mainboard replacement only.

Hopefully someone can help me with this. Thanks.

Welcome to the community.

Your disks are in RAID?

If not then usually a replacement could work, without a reinstallation.

If yes, then you must first import your RAID configuration (usually a copy is saved on the disks).

Note that if your datastore is not visible you can use add storage and import (do NOT format, just import by keeping esisting signature).

Since the NICs are on the mainboard too and therefore the MAC addresses will change, you may need to reconfigure networking on the host.

hi,

many thanks for yours replies. but, from my experience (just replaced with new one), it just need to do replacement, straight replace. and nothing changed. unless the mobo serial number only.
