ESXi license question

I need to update my free ESXi license on a standalone ESXi installation, 1 CPU 16 cores, to the STANDARD.

Which VMware part number do I need - VS8-STD-C or something else?

The SKU migth be ok for licensing the hardware´:

  • SKU: VS8-STD-C
    But what about Support and Subscription?
     
  • SnS Basic 1 Jahr
    VMware vSphere 8 Standard; 1 Prozessor; Basic Support/Subscription (SnS)
    SKU: VS8-STD-G-SSS-C

What if I do not care about the support and subscription?

In other words, I just wanted the working box. Do I have to buy those for a standalone install?

No support - > No support cases/phonecall to help and no chance to upgrade/downgrade the license.

It is sufficient for running, but not the best professional way in case you are running workload on the hypervisor which might be important or critical to your business.

 

BTW: I am not an official licensing specialist, use to you own risk.
