ESXi kernel panic

Hello,

we have a Supermicro Server with ESXi 5.5, the server runned fine for two years but now it started to fail giving a kernel panic and a purple error page showing :

cr0=0x80010033 cr2=0x20a5330 cr3=0x2f60f0a000 cr4=0x2660

I have attached the screenshot of the error.

Can anybody help me ?

Thanks in advance.

Does it happen repeatedly? Are you using NFS for storage?

Hard to tell what exactly is the issue, but you are using a very old (GA) build of ESXi 5.5: VMware KB: Correlating VMware products build numbers to update levels

I suggest you update your host to the latest patches/Update 2 as VMware always fixes a bunch of PSOD issues with pretty much every ESXi patch release.

Apart from that make sure your hardware is healthy and the firmware/BIOS is up to date.

Thanks, it was due to a DIMM module not working, sadly the error is misleading.
