ESXi install on 8GB Sandisk Cruzer Fit USB killing network connectivity

Hello,

Have a PC that I've installed ESXi 5.1 on a few times and it has worked perfectly. I've installed it on said USB flash drive and the installation worked fine and everything works well until I try to connect to it with the vSphere client. Before I try to connect to it with the vSphere I can ping it and everything works fine. If I restart the system, sometimes, I can actually connect to it with the vSphere client, but after a few seconds we lose connectivity and the ESXi host cannot be pinged.

Can anyone help?

Old post, but since there were no responses...

I am using 8GB Cruzer Fits on a pair of intel servers in my home lab. I am running ESXi v5.1U1 currently and have no issues with my network.  I can't see how this would be a USB drive issue.  More likely it is BIOS related. Maybe a bug.  Mine work fine, so hope that helps you eliminate that from your list. Sorry I can't pin it down any further.
