ESXi hosts' memory size should be identical?

Logically, the ESXi hosts in a cluster should have identical memory spec, e.g. 256GB total memory of 16GB RAM DIMMs in a host, and same as other nodes. So that the resource allocation in the cluster would be smooth and also simplify server management.

However, I didn't see such description in Performance Best Practices for VMware vSphere 6.7 and Performance Best Practices for VMware vSphere 7.0. These doc only state detailed memory config. of VM.

Is there any VMware official doc that records "identical memory config between ESXi servers" as recommendation?

I think I would consider that more of a convenience than an official best practice.
