  • 1.  ESXi host freezes and restarts daily

    Hello,

    I'm having an issue with the ESXi host freezing and restarting daily. I have a Dell PowerEdge r660xs server, and the only thing I get at the iDRAC logs is that the "host" requested the restart. I did talk with Dell support and already sent them the logs of both the iDRAC & vm-support from ESXi, and they could not figure out the reason.

    They did switch the whole motherboard, CPU, and TPM chip, but the issues persist. I've also upgraded all firmware and drives, but the same issue persists. This happens about six times a day, so it is making ESXi useless.

    I'm using ESXi 8.0 Update 2 Build-22380479 (A05). A custom image from Dell. I had A04 installed before and had the same issues.

    Does anyone have any tips on how to figure out the reason?

    Are you running this host under any cluster?
    If yes, please check DPM settings in cluster settings if DRS is initiating Power down operation
