ESXi guests poor performance

Hello, I have a problem with a guest Windows 7 that is complete junk with playing video, particularly streaming video to a chromecast connected to a tv.

I incremented resources until the video finally was acceptable to view.

However, it took 2gb ram, and 2 vCPU and 2 CPU to accomplish non jittery video AND in the performance tab the memory is still being nearly maxed out.

Passing the VCA-DV exam utterly did not prepare me for troubleshooting or optimizing the host ESXi and Guests.

Can anyone let me know if the amount of resources I dedicated to this Guest sounds normal, because it seems like its using way too much from the server.

Thanks

Hello there,

if the VM says it's resources are insufficient, you should give it more space if you have the resources to do so. The main question is - what is your hardware setup and how are you performing the storage? What part of memory is maxed out? Active, Granted, or any other metric? This will help us further to determine where you might need a performance improvement.
