ESXi doesn't see LSI FC card, shows up fine in 3.5

I just ran a fresh install of ESXi 5 on what was formerly an ESXi 3.5 machine. Some of my storage is an Apple Xserve RAID connected via an LSI lsi7202xp PCI card/ In 3.5 this showed up as "FC929X". However, I can't get it to show up in 5.0. Do I need to do more than rescan all devices? What logs could I look at to see if it's showing up under the hood?

Actually, it gets weirder - Sorry for stream of consciousness mode but I just ran lspci and the following shows up:

000:005:04.0 Serial bus controller: LSI Logic / Symbios Logic FC929X [vmhba2]
000:005:04.1 Serial bus controller: LSI Logic / Symbios Logic FC929X [vmhba3]

However, I have no vmhba2 or 3 in the web console. I have hba0, 1, 32 and 33, all attached to the onboard SATA controller. So this does appear to be showing up in some form but am I just missing a step? Thanks in advance.

Update: dmesg gives me this every time I rescan:

2011-09-09T01:44:49.007Z cpu0:3341)Vol3: 647: Couldn't read volume header from control: Invalid handle
2011-09-09T01:44:49.007Z cpu0:3341)FSS: 4333: No FS driver claimed device 'control': Not supported
2011-09-09T01:44:49.026Z cpu0:3341)VC: 1449: Device rescan time 9 msec (total number of devices 6)
2011-09-09T01:44:49.026Z cpu0:3341)VC: 1452: Filesystem probe time 58 msec (devices probed 5 of 6)

I haven't found anything online other than some iSCSI incompatibilities with FreeNAS. I'm just using a run of the mill FC card and it is currently not connected to anything.

It sounds like you are experiencing the beginning of a warp core breach.  Set stations to yellow alert and eject the core.  If your hardware supports it, do a saucer separation and try to make it to the nearest starbase.

Please check if the HBA is supported under esxi 5.0. You can check the vmware hardware compatibility list at:

This came up in the beta and the response from LSI support was as follows:

Unfortunately LSI is no longer developing drivers for our fibre channel HBAs, and there are not any VMware drivers available.
